Busy day today~groans~ Ended up meeting one of the board of directors(champion Pecheron shower to boot) named Gary, this guy is awesome. I went with my mum an dad to meet 'Todd' a 19.1 hands(yes you read that right) pure black-black beauty face in the movie- Percheron.
Lets just say BIIIG boy. Very cute. Ended up right off the bat grooming him.(Ha, had to use stools~sniggers~) but he was so good, an just verbal commands is all it takes to get him to move.
Now see, we were deciding we weren't going to get him before we met him. Why? I dunno how to drive cart yet an he can't really ride(wasn't trained, not that he can't be which I will explain)
But then we ended up tacking him up for cart- Gary made me do it showing me an teaching me. Then he tossed me up in the cart(trust me pain in the ASS to get into x.x;) with his son, who got Todd 'un-rusty'(he hadn't worked since Oct.) then I drove thats what sold him, and it wasn't my idea either, mind you it was so friggen fun I didn't want to stop ~shifty eyes~ because apparently even Gary said "She picks up quick, its hard to turn right there, especially at a trot. If you do get him, theres a show next month you should get into. I can help ya guys get ready, an find our trainer to teach her." or something like that, but mom said dad was all 'holy shit' an she said I look like I drive alot easier then I ride.
Then after we unhitched him an his harness was off, bareback, Gary got on, maiden voyage. Then tossed me up.
Lets say around 6 and a half feet up off the ground, bareback, on a horse not trained for riding is rather different. But he actually kept me from falling off especially when he took a mistep an tripped. But its obvious that him an his team are the kind that when they know what you want, they will do thier best to please you. Now mind you this is my second time bareback riding, an first time 'on my own' without somone guiding the horse.
I had a shitload of fun once we both relaxed :P he figured out what I wanted, I figured out how to not feel like I was gunna fall off. (He's got big strides, and his trot is very...punctuated. Its smooth but its hard to describe the feeling its got alot of weight/power/momentum in that movement though it was smooth)
So now I own Ju-ly Jax Black aka "Todd" from a championship pecheron draft team. Gary really didn't want to see him go, but he only had 5 functioning horses, an Todds well he's one of the two in the team that are directly attached to the cart, but there was only one horse close in size to him that could work with him(he LOVES to work, he won't stop unless you force him too) got his leg injured and can't work. An he's trying to recoup him since he's small enough to work with his other backer horse Fred(who we all swear is gay, even Gary LMAO) an works well with him, an he can get another horse to go infront easier then a backer who can work with one of his current ones. Unlike poor huge Todd.
Hence he told me "He's meant to be shown, you learn quick enough, he's good enough. He will win for you, you just have to give him that chance. You'll bring home blue, I can pretty much guarentee it."
So now he's home, Gary brought him for us. I've gotten hugs an kisses an nuzzles galore from the big guy. He's very much 'in your pocket' gelding ;P. But now my dad is noting the trainers are apparently not giving me enough credit since Gary asked how long I'd been riding, an did a double take going "No shit?". When my dad told Jenny I rode bareback her eyes bought fell outta her head.
But my mom says she's never seen my dad look prouder then he did when I zipped by making Todd trot saying 'thats where she belongs' so thats what sold him, how I looked riding and driving, and how he reacted with me.
plus he suckered up to my mother big time. I wished I had a camera he was trying to make her hold his head an hug him
